The AMC Fellows Program is designed to develop quantitative, as well as qualitative skills. Ideally-suited candidates for the Program should be willing and able to comprehend probability and statistics and how these mathematical topics apply to reliability theory, statistical process control and forecasting. They will also be able to learn how to handle economic analysis problems involving the time value of money and discount factors. They will possess basic computer skills, including the ability to use spreadsheets effectively. Advanced topics in the Fellows Program will include the formulation and solution of mathematical and integer programming models, decision analysis and production planning and control. After completion of the first thirteen months, each Fellow will begin a series of three on-the-job training assignments. Each of the assignments will be thirteen to eighteen months in length and will be conducted at a different location. Typical locations for the year-long on-the-job training assignments include Detroit, Michigan; Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey; and Huntsville, Alabama. Other training courses also occur during each year of the on-the-job training assignments. Movement expenses to the initial duty site, Texarkana, will not be paid. However, the government will pay movement of household goods and mileage for moves between training sites. Preferred undergraduate majors for the Fellows program are Business, Management, and Engineering. However, outstanding performers in other degree programs will be considered. |
